Rules were meant to be broken...

My life has been nothing but one crap-tastic cluster after another. Getting traded. Being sent to New Orleans. Enjoying a one-night stand—plus a little more—with Adelaide Landry.

How was I supposed to know the beauty with a body tailormade for sex was the daughter of my new hockey team's owner? The problem is, I'm not sure it would have made a difference if I had known. After all, I'm Nathan Shaw and I earned my reputation for being a rule breaker.

Only this time, I may have gone too far...

A brand new hockey series from one of the best sports romance authors in the biz - yep sign me up for that stat!!
The only down side to this series in my opinion is that The Bourdon’s are a semi professional hockey team - super picky if me I know but there you have it
Nathan and Addy’s story starts off with a whole lot of steam and just keeps rolling on from there. I would almost say that this is one of Lisa’s steamiest books yet. But this isn’t what the story is about. It is what brought them together in the first place, but there is so much more to their relationship than the physical.
I also very much enjoyed the support characters and the storyline of a whole new team of misfits coming together and trying to at least get a few wins.
Outstandingly written as I have come to expect and can’t wait to get my hands on Troublemaker.

Getting traded to the New Orleans Bourdons was more a statement of Nathan’s image rather than his skill. He now finds himself adjusting to a new expansion team where he doesn’t want to be but the one thing he does like about his new situation is Addy, who he quickly found out that one night was not enough with her.

Addy is enjoying her casual relationship with Nathan, but she also knows that he isn’t the kind of man her father wants for her future. When Addy and Nathan meet at a social gathering and realize that he plays for her father’s team things are about to get complicated.

There is no denying the chemistry between them but now they must decide if what they have together is worth fighting for.

English review :

I discovered this title due to an error in my search for a book on Goodreads I did not remember the name but which was about Hockey too. A pleasant mistake for once.

The basic theme of the story is hockey. I discovered Hockey thanks to a Japanese series and I liked it. The worst part is that there are two teams not far from where I live, but I have never seen a game in my life.

The story discuss the relationship between the players but the main plot remains centered on Addy and Nathan, the evolution of their relationship and the obstacles that stand in their way.

At first, it seems like Addy is very liberated, but ultimately most of her life is under control.
Nathan is a bit of a burnt head. It was for this reason that he landed in New Orleans. I do not know if I did not pay attention but I think we know less about him than Addy.

My reading was pleasant and quick, except for a length or two. I had no difficulty understanding the story.

I intend to read the next book "Troublemaker" that has an enticing summary.

What a great start to a new series and if Rule Breaker is anything to go by the New Orleans Bourdons is going to be a must read for all hockey romance lovers and all sports romance lovers in general.
The Bourdon’s are a semi professional hockey team and Nathan finds himself traded to a team that can’t seem to get their act together, the players seem more inclined to party than to win hockey games and once you add in the less than adequate rink they are supposed to be playing on you get a team full of guys with no where to go. On his arrival in town Nathan meets Addy and ends up having one night of passion, it was only meant to be one night and no last names or numbers were exchanged but when the team are invited to the owners house for a welcome party, Nathan comes face to face with the owners daughter who just happens to be Addy the girl he hasn’t stopped dreaming about since that fateful night....
This is a fun entertaining read with great characters who share some sizzling chemistry and plenty of witty banter, it’s a story that will captivate and draw you in and I’m sure like me you will read this book in one sitting and be left wanting more from this series. Great start can’t wait for book 2

Nathan was not known to follow the rules in hockey or life and was known as the rule breaker. He had recently been acquired by the new New Orleans hockey team with a new owner that had his own unique view of the hockey team. Nathan had been involved with Addy, a supposed one night stand, for several weeks and had feelings for her. Addy was similarly attracted but there was no committed relationship, just good time hookups. When Nathan stood her up for a date because of a late practice, Addy was very disappointed but ready to move on. Both felt a sense of loss even though there was no commitment. Neither one realized Nathan was a player on Addy’s father’s team until a team dinner. Addy’s father was vehemently opposed to his daughter in any kind of a relationship with any of his hockey players. Would Nathan and Addy be able to reconnect and realize their true feelings? Would Nathan still be able to play hockey or would the owner force him off the team?

I thoroughly enjoyed this hockey romance. There was not a lot of emphasis on hockey, it was a romance everyone could enjoy reading. I especially liked the epilogue to complete the story.

He shoots, He scores............but can he handle winning her heart

Rule Breaker is the first book in the New Orleans Bourdons series about the players on a minor league hockey team. This book introduces a number of characters in and around the team so we get a glimpse of who may get their own story. As with all things in the Big Easy this series looks to be filled with a wild cast of characters.
This book is about Nathan Shaw and Addy Landry. He is trying to make it to the major league and she is trying to make it as a fashion clothes designer. They have a one night stand that gets "extended". But the same rules apply - no last names, no phone numbers, no strings, no falling for each other but just a whole lot of hot and steamy sexy fun. But what happens when things take a turn and they discover just exactly who each other is........oh boy is Daddy about to hit the fan in more ways than one!!!

This is a well written "hockey" romance where the hockey plays a minor part in the story. The heat between Addy and Nathan and their fun times are wonderful and lite my Kindle up. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Nathan is having a 3-week-long one-night stand with Addy. Sex. Fun. No commitments. More sex. Lather, rinse, repeat. He loves playing hockey more than anything in the world, but he's well-known as a rule breaker, and this is the last chance for his career. On a team with a bunch of misfits and an idiotic mascot, he can't afford to mess this up. A team dinner at the new owner's home reveals a huge problem in his life: the owner's daughter is his 3-week-long one-night stand, Addy. This is a terrific opener to the author's new series, and she's a great go-to for hockey romance. Addy is just wonderful - sweet, smart, sexy, trying to forge her own life in the shadow her rich and powerful father. Nathan - who doesn't love a bad boy hockey player, and he's the baddest. They certainly never planned on falling in love. Her father is so hard to like - he has Addy's marriage to Quinn planned out, refusing to listen to anything she tries to say. Jacqui - she is really a hoot, such a great friend, and even Nathan is afraid of her. I'm really looking forward to Dylan's story next.

Great start to a new hockey series - this one set in New Orleans!

While there was less emphasis on the game and more on the romance, this was yet again another wonderful Lisa Kamps hockey story that draws you in from the very beginning.

Nathan is the underdog here...traded to a new team with players that haven’t really gelled yet, atrocious uniforms (a really funny addition to the story!), less than adequate rink for practice...the list goes on and on. The upside to all of this is Nathan’s hot “more than one-night” one-night stand, Addy.

The thing is...they never exchanged last names, nor talked about really...anything, so how shocking was it when Nathan and his teammates are invited to a party at the owner’s house and who should be there greeting guests? Addy!

With fun supporting characters (Jacqui was hilarious and needs her own story!) plus the heat between Nathan and Addy, this is a fun, touching, read-in-one-sitting kind of story!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

Lisa B Kamps is known for her brilliant hockey romances, so it was exciting news when she confirmed a new team and series would be coming our way. The series starts with Adelaide and Nathan who aren't necessarily a couple you'd pair together, but the heat between them is off the charts and Lisa B Kamps writes some very hot scenes between them. There's also some great supporting characters who I know will stand up and stand out when it's time for them to tell their own stories.

We get to see the New Orleans Bourdons from their early days of trying to come together as a team, and I'm looking forward to following their journey towards success. It can't be easy creating a new series and introducing new characters, but Lisa B Kamps has done it so well and Rule Breaker is a great way to start off the series. If you love her other hockey romances, then you're going to love this one as well. I'm expecting some amazing stories for the team and those they fall in love with!

It’s great to be back on the ice and a new series from Ms Kamps is always worth a look.
I really enjoyed our introduction to the New Orleans Bourdons. The misfit team of trouble makers and rule breakers.
Nathan Shaw doesn’t want to be in the Deep South heat. The only thing keeping him focused is the one night stand come fling he is enjoying with the beautifully sweet Addy.
As they become more involved the truth of Addy’s family comes to light and they both face a life changing decision....nothing new in this story but still a decent read...
I did feel that sometimes the inner ramblings of each character went on too long and also the whole daddy thing was a bit too much for me... I don’t think women in their twenties should refer to their father as Daddy but that’s just me!!😊
I’m looking forward to getting to know the rest of the Nathan’s team mates😃

Rule Breaker is the first book in the New Orleans Bourbon series and has started this series off with a bang!
If you are a fan of hockey and romance stories than you are going to enjoy reading this one. It is filled with characters that you are going to love and a storyline that with keep you engaged from beginning to the end.
Nathan is the rule breaking bad boy and even after finding himself on a new team of what seem like misfits somehow bad luck seems to follow him. This time it is in the form of the owner’s daughter and getting involved in a forbidden relationship with her. But, to his defense, he didn’t know who she was when they first met and maybe his luck is actually changing for the better.
Abby knows she should stay away from
Nathan but these two have chemistry and just can’t seem to stay away. They just have to figure out if having a relationship is worth it in the end.

Great start to a new series. I absolutely love Addy. She is fierce but still a dutiful daughter. She is sweet and caring and loves her family. Nathan, the rule breaker, doesn't realize how much he feels for Addy. Together their denial turns into more than enough desperation to push them both to the edge. As a rule breaker Nathan thinks he knows what he is doing and how far he can go. He is so wrong. The writing is great, the characters are realistic and fully developed with flaws and strengths. I wish we knew more about Nathan's past and his so called rule breaking and about Abby's childhood but that doesn't distract from the joy of the story. I hope Jacqui gets her story and that we learn her secrets. I look forward to Dylan's book. These are my honest thoughts about Rule Breaker by Lisa B. Kamps. I would like to thank the author and her PR team for an ARC copy.

Nathan and Addy meet in a bar and have a one night stand that lasts for several weeks. They are just having fun, no commitment, no last names, no info exchanged...then Nathan stands Addy up one night, but does he really? He didn't have a way to contact her to tell her that he wasn't going to make it. She's super hurt he didn't show and when they bump into each other but don't talk, there's regret. They both realize the other has come to mean more to them then just fun, no commitment. When they end up at an event together and find out who each other really is, it complicates things more. Now will they be able to work things out to be together, do they want to?? Another great hockey series from Ms. Kamps! Fast read, great characters and well told story! New series, this is book one in the New Orleans Bourdons. If you are a fan of sports themed romance, this author is for you. Nobody likes rules, certainly not everybody plays by them, they are meant to be broken. At least that is how Nathan Shaw sees them. He has been traded to a new hockey team in New Orleans and starts things off with a one night stand. Addy leaves a lasting impression on Nathan. Addy has a one night stand and she soon finds out that he is one of the players on her father's new team. Are these two up for the challenge to getting their HEA? I absolutely loved this story and cannot wait to read more. I am so excited as this series takes place in New Orleans which holds it's own allure and magic. Enjoy!

Nathan, a newly traded hockey player, and Addy, an aspiring designer and heiress, are each only looking for a good time. They don’t know anything about each other except how compatible they are in bed but have been engaged in a one-night stand that hasn’t ended. It comes as a huge surprise to Addy that Nathan is a hockey player and an even bigger surprise to Nathan that the team he plays for, The New Orleans Bourdons, is owned by Addy’s father. They slowly develop feelings for each other and even though they both know that this makes their relationship more difficult, they continue to see each other. It was a lot of fun to see their relationship progress and watch them overcome the obstacles in their way. I absolutely loved Nate, Addy and all of their friends. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

This is Book 1 in the New Orleans Bourdons Series and my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and characters. It is a sweet romance between Nathan and Addy. Their sizzling chemistry and strong connection are undeniable as they navigate the bumpy road to their forever after. What starts out as a one night stand turns into something more. These two relatable souls and the unique plot make for an intriguing read. It is an insta-love story with drama, along with passion and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Overall, it is a quick read with heart, heat, and a happy ending. It is a great introduction to a new hockey romance series.

This is a new hockey series. The Bourdons are the misfits from other teams. Nathan happens to be the rule breaker and was traded from the Bombers. He figured he would live it up in New Orleans and blend right in. Partying, a pick of any woman. He definitely didn’t bank on finding “the” woman... Addy. Addy was planning on a one night stand, that turned into many nights. And along the way she started to develop feelings for Nathan. Each of them didn’t realize who the other was. When that came to light, what was that going to mean for their relationship? This book had your chemistry, betrayal, and happiness emotions in it. If your a fan of the Bombers series, then you won’t be disappointed with the Bourdons either.

A Rule Breaker at the Right Moment

A one-night stand that became a month of no-strings, no last names, no phone numbers and lots of fun down in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Minor league hockey player Nathan Shaw and aspiring clothes designer Addy Landry meet when their young careers are a bit adrift and uncertain. Can they risk a relationship? What happens when they find out each other’s last names? I felt like this book as the tip of the iceberg of the New Orleans Bourdons story, and I’ll look forward to it. Solid HEA.

Rule Breaker is the first of a new hockey series by Lisa Kamps, and in this book we also meet a cast of supporting characters I hope to see in future books: Addy’s sweet sister Marie, the stiletto-wearing Jacqui, and Nathan’s teammates Dylan and Tristan.

I enjoyed this story. Nathan Moved to New Orleans, met Addy, and they started a sex only relationship. Neither knowing the other’s last name. Addy’s father throws a party to meet the players on his hockey team. Addy discovers that Nathan is one of the players and Nathan realizes Addy is the owner’s daughter. The two initially think they can’t date each other, but it is difficult to stay apart and they secretly date. Addy’s father finds out and forbids them from dating. The two decide they want to be together and then something happens where Addy’s father changes his mind about them dating.

Once again, a good book from this author.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. Addy and Nathan are amazing! I’m absolutely in love with this new series. The story is awesome, the characters are warm and the plot invites you in and makes you want to stay. Nathan and Addy have so many obstacles to their relationship including themselves lol. I was so mad at Addys dad for his blind eye and his controlling ways. Addy just caved to him, out of guilt and love and habit. Nathan is the rule breaker, it got him kicked off his last team and it’s what he’s known for. Addy and Nathan really have to battle to be together and I loved how Nathan embraced his feelings and his protective nature. Such a good book and I can’t wait for the next one!

I love a new hockey series, meeting the team, the bonding, and of course how hard they fall in love with their women. This new team faces a lot of challenges as they try to gel with challenges from the new owner. Nathan got sent to this new team as a last resort since he is the "rule Breaker", his hockey career is everything to him but he has issues with the rules. Nathan meets Addy and they hookup no last names, no info, and their one-night flows into weeks. The storyline is good with surprises for each of them and roadblocks are thrown their way. I enjoyed the characters and the interaction between Addy and Nathan as well as her family and his teammates. I'm anticipating the player's story.

Breaking all the rules has never been so much fun!

This is another fantastic read and start of a series (New Orleans Bourdons) from this amazing author. Rules are meant to be broken, either intentionally or by circumstance and no one knows this better than pro-hockey player Nathan Shaw. Even as he tries to turn things around in a new city with a new team, Adelaide Landry walks into his life and breaks every rule that he as hoping he wouldn’t have to. Stand back and watch things sizzle and ignite. A truly fantastic read with well-written and engaging characters and an intense, emotional engaging storyline. There is something for everyone! Simply another great read from an amazing author! Can’t wait for the next one!

Nathan is having several one night stands with Addy, it's been going on for about three weeks, they don't know much about each other and haven't exchanged fone numbers.
Nathan is a hockey player who is playing for the Bourdons because he's blotted his copy book so much that they're the only place he can play. Addy works in a boutique. They agree to meet but Nathan has extended practice and then can't find her.
Then the owner of team holds a get to know you party, and Addy is his daughter. He's already decided on a prospective husband, Quinn, but Addy thinks he's slimey.

What a great start to a new hockey series! If you’re as big of a fan of hockey romance as I am you’ll want to read Rule Breaker! It has a great storyline and wonderful characters. Nathan and Abby were fantastic together! They meet one night in New Orleans and what started as a one night stand turned into weeks together. When they find out Nathan is a player on her fathers team they know they can’t continue to see each other. Their feelings don’t change and they want to be together. Will it be worth the trouble it will cause? Do they even care? I loved this action packed, fun, sexy, steamy, emotional story! I can’t wait for the second book in the New Orleans Bourdons series!

Great introduction to the New Orleans Bourdons with "Rule Breaker" including unforgettable characters and a well-written story that immediately captivated me and kept me totally involved in all that was happening. I loved the attraction and sizzling chemistry between Nathan Shaw who is traded to New Orleans from the Bombers and Adelaide Landry whose father owns the team. Ms. Kamps blew me away with this great read and I look forward to getting to know this team as the series continues. Nathan is a slightly rougher ice hockey player, lacking in authority and fond of the daughter of is team coach but first he does not know she is his daughter. She is just a one night stand that happens more frequently. They didn't exchange last names or telephone numbers.

At a party at her house she sees that he is a hockey player, then they both fight against their feelings to realize that they still like each other very much.
But her father wants her to marry someone else. To see how this will end you have to read the book because you will love it. Just like I did.
A real page turner.

I loved it

I'm happy to have found another Hockey romance series from Lisa B. Kamps. The characters that she fills her team with and their friends and loved ones become good friends that your glad to catch up with in later books, I can hardly wait. She's off to a good start with this story of Bad boy Nathan Shaw who has been traded to a new expansion team in New Orleans. What started as a one night stand with Addie, no last name, has now lasted 2 weeks but they are both about to find out, Nathan is a player on the hockey team that Addie's father owns. Dating her would be professional suicide. But he just can't stay away.

So this story is a great intro into the NO NHL team. Nathan has been traded to the New
Orleans team. No thrilled but things look up when a one night stand turns into a month on bliss with Addy.
Addy is enjoying her time with Nathan while also trying to find her place in the fashion field. These two are gelling until they find out she is the daughter of Nathan’s new team owner.
Will rules are made to be broken and the heart wants what it wants. Great main and supporting cast. Can’t wait for more of this series.
Ms. Kamp is a great hockey romance writer ; this is her jam.
