Gemma Rhodes has her entire life ahead of her. At eighteen, she should be at college, living life to the fullest. Except she doesn’t have her life even the slightest bit figured out. Instead, she’s taken the year off to learn who she is and what she wants – aside from the unattainable Jake Bennet. Her brother’s best friend, her knight in shining armor, and a man who thinks of her as a little sister. She knows she should move on, but how can she when no one could ever compare to Jake?
Jake Bennet might be half a world away in the middle of a war, but the Marine only has one thing on his mind – Gemma. The one woman he can never have. There were some rules a guy just didn’t break, and dating his best friend’s sister was one of them. Riley would break him if he caught Jake looking at Gemma like the lovesick fool he was. When he’s injured and sent home, he knows he should stay away, but sometimes temptation is just too much for a mere mortal to handle.
There’s only one thing Jake needs to know… Can Gemma love a broken Marine? Because she’s had his heart for years, and if he’s learned anything, it’s that some things are worth the wait.
**Publisher's Note: Worth the Wait is a 63,000 word steamy military romance. It was previously released in 2014 as a young adult book titled Worth Fighting For and has been revised and re-edited.
Have you ever read a Charity West book? Well, you should add her to your "TO BE READ" list. From my reading experience, I rooted for both Gemma and Jake from the very first pages. However, Jake went through a lot from childhood and the Marine Corp. that he sometimes needed to be "book slapped" upside the head. The basics goes like this: Gemma has a crush on Jake. Jake happens to be best friends with her older brother, Riley. She's forbidden and he knows it. When he returns home from the Marine Corp, Jake is broken and it's up to Gemma to put him back together. Does she succeed? Does Jake get over himself? Well, you'll have to read the book. Easy to read, HEA, and no cliffhangers! I look forward to reading more stories from Charity West!! We need Riley's story!!
This is my first book I had the pleasure of indulging myself in by Charity West; And now it won't be my last. This was the Sweetest, cutest, and most adorable forbidden love- friends to lovers romance I have read in a long time. Gemma and Liam have their hurdles but the weather the storm because of their undeniable connection stemmed from their beautiful friendship. I absolutely adored this story. Cant wait to dive into more from Ms. West.
Although I don’t normally read young adult\new adult regularly, I found Jake and Gemma’s story sweet and endearing. And the trials of life they had to go through, inspirational! I would like to see Riley get his own story and catch up on how things are going with Jake’s mom and Gemma’s dad. I highly recommend this book!
Jake and Gemma are so cute and adorable together, they tried to stay away from each other and also tried to hide their feelings. But sometimes you don't have a choice on who you fall for, they have great chemistry, with everyone else rooting for them, they'll make it, great read.
I like this book a lot. It’s good for those that want passion in a story that doesn’t have hot monkey sex. It a great dipping the toe in novel for those that are starting in the genre.
