Wicked Wolves & Tangled Truths

Rate this book
He’s an Alpha heir.
I’m a lone wolf.
He hates me.
I really don’t care.

Rafe thinks he’s untouchable. The self-appointed King of Hellbound High.
But I’ve already lost everything and everyone I care about. It’s me he should be afraid of. Not the other way around.

Because if I’ve learned anything this past year, it’s that I’m damn good at finding a way to survive.

So if he wants to hurt me.
Let him try.

Awesome read! I love this book and enjoyed not only the storyline but the characters as well. I didn't realize that it was a high school paranormal romance when I got it but I will have to say that it had passion and great steamy scenes and didn't come across as a juvenile read. Rafael is the son of the alpha and southwest leader of his pack. He sexy, charming and a bit of a ass who is used to women fighting over him and he is next in line to become alpha so he basically runs the school along with his best friends and when isabella's mom dies she is sent to live with her human father. Isabella is a strong and beautiful girl how just wants to graduate high school and return to her pack. The chemistry between rafael and Isabella is scroching but with mean bitches like witch sabrina who wants rafael to be her's and vampires who see her as being packless, she's a target. With a great pace and great writing and some great secondary characters like rafaels best friends desmond and Jordy two hot sex wolf's and Isabella 's best friend Josue a tattooed sexy shifter, theirs a whole lot of hot alpha male drool worthy book boyfriend's to go round. Can't wait for the next book in this series! Until next time luv's💕💋

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After the death of her mother, Isabella has no option but to leave her pack and live with her father. She is to start at the local school, Hellbound High soon after she moves in.

Isabella quickly catches the attention of the son of the local Alpha and finds herself in a confusing, hot/cold relationship with him.

As Isabella is not a member of a pack anymore, she is a lone wolf and therefore fair game. Even her relationship with the Alpha's son won't help her. In fact, it might just make it worse.

What I liked about this book

The book was well written and the pacing is really good. There wasn't a point where the story lulled and there was nothing happening.

There are a few fighting scenes throughout the book. These are written well and add an element of excitement and danger to the story.

Both Isabella and Raphael have chapters showing there points of view.

What I didn't like

Isabella and Raphael's relationship is slightly worrying. She is presented as a strong woman and in other aspects of the story, but not within the relationship. Isabella stands up to raphael for all of about 2 seconds before doing what he says. When I thought that it was improving it actually got worse.

There were so many questions left unanswered. I understand that this is the beginning of a series but I would have liked a bit more information on what was going on.

Despite the points above, I was drawn into this book and wanted to know what would happen next. That only increased my disappointment in the way the story was left.

After the death of her mother, Isabella (Isa) is forced to leave her Pack and live with her human father who distains shifters. Starting at the local high school - Hellbound High she finds herself the focus of a wolf (Raphael) who is more than a little bit of an ass to her. I really wish Isa didn't give into Raphael as easily as she sometimes did. How Raphael tries to use the she-witch Sabrina after what she did to Isa was a dick move and so immature.

The heat between the MCs is good.

The book is well paced and I liked Isa. Found myself engaged.

Isa dad made me want to snarl would have been nice i he had been taken down a peg or two.

The writing actually wasn't bad and I liked the wolf aspects of this story.

This is a pick me girl's disgusting fantasy though. The heroine only has male friends (who treat her like shit but she accepts it). She only ever had one female friend who cheated with her ex. And EVERY SINGLE girl other than the heroine is painted as a whore and a bitch. Not a single one is nice to her. I wonder why?

It's such a missed opportunity because this would have been a great story if the alpha wolf heroine maybe befriended the submissive female wolves in the pack. Isnt there a need for pack bonds or does that only apply to the men? Or she could make friends with a witch or fae.

The hero is too much of a genuine asshole, but of course the dirt low self esteem heroine allows it.

Overall there is a very disgusting mindset in this book. It's repulsive that some women see the world this way.

This is Wicked Devil but under a different name

Just wow
Imagine my disappointment after excitedly having downloaded this book only to find out I had read it before. I don't even understand why this author has 2 exact books under different names. Yeah, names, location, and some events have been changed but this is Wicked Devil in paranormal version lol
Daniel is a new author to me and I loved Wicked Devil but this does not feel right to me. Even if these are her books why should she do this? It feels wrong to basically retell the same story twice and for what purpose.

Why?

It started out so well. The heroine refuses to be triggered and she stood up to bullies. Then, without warning, it went bad.I will never be ok with spoiler******

a guy sleeping with the heroine and going out of his way to brag about it to everyone. Then he purposely left the girl without her finishing (which he also had no problem with) while he got his. She pointed it out then instantly forgave it and made a joke!!!! No apology needed, just more alpha postering. I had to stop reading. I hate it when girls have no back bone just because the guy is hot. If the book got better, I am not willing to wait and see.

Wicked Wolves and Tangled Truths is a spicy tale of witches, vampires, and shifters and very entertaining.

Initially, it took me a while to get the hang of the world-building. I had no idea about packs, wolves, witches, or who was what. But, once I got the hang of the story, I enjoyed it! Moreover, Hellbound High fascinated me with its syllabus for paranormal creatures. This book has vampires, witches, shifters, where something always seems to happen to Isabella and the crew.

The author did an excellent job with the characters. Isabella is fun as an individual, and she has chemistry with her costars, whether it be Zheng of Rafael. Rafael is complicated, and I felt he was the best character in the tale. At times, I thoroughly despised him for treating Isabella shabbily, but I also felt terrible for him and wanted him to amend the situation with her. One memorable scene is how he treats her for not showing up to the game and then finding out why she couldn’t make it. Similarly, Sabrina, Zheng, and Josue also add well as the supporting cast. Also, I like Sabrina and Desmond and would have loved to see more of them. Isabella also has an exciting relationship with Brian, and I liked how the author included that angle to the storyline.

However, as I said, I enjoyed the story, but it took me a while to get the hang of the paranormal aspects and visualize the characters. The author dives right into the plot. For example, in the beginning, I thought I missed out reading a possible prequel prior. Overall, this was a very entertaining story, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

The story was good but unfortunately I found there was a few plot holes as to why her dad hated shapeshifters and why did her mother go with him? It would have been interesting to know why and also yes the vampires attacked her because she was weak and wasn't with a pack but it would have been interesting to have someone behind that attack such as one of the girls who hated her because one of them was watching as she got attacked or her father could have been behind it. As for Rafe, I found him to be very childish and the ending was rushed but I hope there will more coming out about this story in the sequel.

WOW!!! This was by far top reads of 2020..... absolutely freakin fantastic. I didn’t have expectations but I was blown away. The characters, the detail, the settings, was absolutely addicting I could not put this down. There was so much going on but written so well there was no confusion or moments missed. There are a few tying up loose ends questions I have but in no way takes away from my absolute obsession with this book. I want more, like a couple hundred more pages....

Emotional rollercoaster

A beautifully written young adult romance. It showcased the angst and volatility associated with teenagers coming into adulthood and was so emotional in places, I have a pile of damp tissues beside me.
I couldn’t put this book down and will certainly read more by this author.

This is some of the best writing by Danielle Annett so far in my opinion.

It was very emotional and the descriptions really pulled you in and made you feel everything right along with the characters.

Although it was a book about teenagers it had a great depth to it along with some great urban fantasy elements and some very much in front of the curtain romance elements which was a bit of a surprise.

It's the beginning of a series but doesn't end on a cliffhanger so can be read as a standalone if you want to.

Must Read

This book totally had me in my feelings. Her ex and her “ best friend” are useless jerks . Rafe seriously was a total jerk and so are his best friends but they’re proven themselves. I want to know what the Tiger gotten himself into. I can’t wait for more.

Welcome to the predicable book and storyline you have read over and over again. It doesn’t matter if it is a shifter or a romantic character from the 18th century. It is the same tired story. Good grief think a new thought 1 New girl in school catches the eye of the hot guy. She is itty bitty, he’s a jock. She poor and unnoticed he’s handsome and wealthy. She is just what he wants. She has a crisis he comes to the rescue. Love blooms ( insert barf).

Wolves and witches and vampires- oh my

This is the paranormal version of one of Annett's enemies to lovers romances- yes the author rewrote the series for those of us who like a little bite in our romances

I passed up the regular version but so glad she did this as this is a must-read coming of age romance that has all the angst and drama that makes a good read

😻

So this was good. I could not stop myself from coming up with all kinds of theories. Like how the vamps knew. But of course that could be open knowledge. To her dad being behind it. A bit of a stretch but still. By the way I like the assistant. She actysermed to care for her!

This was not my cup of tea. I have read this author before and like her writing, bit this was too YA for me with the whole high school mean girls and the aloof boys. If you like that, mixed with shifters, you are all set. I also recommend her Blood and Magic-series (6 books) that is a bit more NA.

I received an ARC via Netgalley and this is my honest review.

Isa and Rafe

Isa's Mom dies and she is sent to her human father, who she didn't even know about. Isa is a wolf shifter and used to belonging to a pack. At least in her new school there are shifters, but also vampires, witches and other paranormals. She meets the son of the local wolf pack, and she is attracted to Rafe. Great read !!!

Excellent Shifter Bully Read

So this book did have some negative reviews but I decided to read anyway and I'm glad I did! This book pulled me and had me invested in the story line and the world.I did feel that the ending came to a close really fast and the writer should have expanded on the world a bit, it left me wanting more. Im excited for the second book.

Isabella or Isa as she likes to be called had a great life well except for a cheating boyfriend or I should say ex-boyfriend in another town with a pack until her mother died and she was pulled from her life to live with her dad who is human.

Now she is having to go to school at a new school, Hellbound High, that she never wanted to attend in the first place. She now has a dad that she doesn't know and is never around.

Upon her arrival at Hellbound High Isabella runs into the local packs Alpha’s son Rafael. As punishment Rafael is assigned Isabella’s tour guide for the day. Rafael being a bad boy vows to make her life miserable. I will have to say that Rafael did not make a good first impression on me at all. Rafael thinks that want ever he wants he gets. Girls just swoon at his feet all of them wanting to be the Alpha’s son’s girl.

But then Isabella meets another guy Zheng. Isabella is attracted to Zheng right off as she says he is cute real cute. But Rafael doesn’t like Zheng stepping on his territory. Rafael confronts Zheng in the hall at school but Isabella knows that it would not be good for Zheng to get into a fight with the big dog so she steps in between them to put a stop to their madness.

Hellbound High is a school for all paranormal creatures to attend. Hellbound High is a place for all paranormals to interact together and hopefully get to know each other and become friends. Witches, werewolves, vampires, humans ect...attend Hellbound High.

Isabella thought her life was torn asunder when she was yanked from her old life and planted here at Hellbound High, yeah well her life is about to be turned upside down as someone doesn’t want her around. With no pack to protect her any more things are about to go bad for Isabella.

Wicked Wolves and Tangled Truths is a wonderful introduction to a brand new world. Once I picked up Wicked Wolves and Tangled Truths I was hooked the race was on then as I raced to the end to see how it all turned out.

The world building is epic. The characters are all so believably real as they come to life right on the page. Wicked Wolves and Tangled Truths was so vividly written that it just jumped off the page right into my head and I saw it all as if I was watching a movie. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series Savage Wolves & Devious Deals.

I highly suggest that you one click your copy of Wicked Wolves and Tangled Truths today to begin this epic adventure with Isabella, Rafael, and the whole crew!

Trauma and Terror

Isabella is really getting the raw end of the stick in this story. She is pretty tough to live thru and overcome these traumatic incidents at her age that happened one right after the other in too short a space of time. I have had my share of trauma and terror and really connected with her and wanted to comfort her like I learned to forgive and comfort my inner child. She just has an inner wolf though.

Great book, can't wait for more

I struggle at writing reviews, it's hard to put into words what to exactly say. The FMC Isa in this book is really is to get behind. This book had me in tears at times and holding my breath as the scenes unfolded. I would recommend to anyone looking for a kickass female, who isn't afraid to tell the boys in her life where to stick it at times.
